George County man charged with simple domestic and felony possession of marijuana | Crime
Howard Street, 53, of George County was arrested Saturday following a domestic dispute, according to George County Sheriff Dean Howell.
Howell said, a 911 call alerted deputies of a fight between Street and a woman he dated at one point. When authorities found Street he was reportedly driving erratically through the Basin Community.
Howell said Street was driving down old logging roads to escape deputies. Deputy Larry Havard was able to stop Street after he drove down a dead end.
That's when Street got out of his vehicle leaving a woman in the passenger’s seat.
Deputies found a shotgun, marijuana in clear plastic bags, a scale, two boxes of worms and a decorative knife set, Howell said.
The woman was taken into custody and reportedly told authorities she didn't want to go with Street.
Street was charged with simple domestic and felony possession of marijuana. He is currently in George County Regional Correctional Facility awaiting initial court appearance.
George County Narcotics Agents seized the marijuana, the shotgun and the knife. The marijuana has an approximate street value of $400.
