Deputies arrest suspect caught with meth | Crime
A Lucedale man was arrested Sunday during a traffic stop after he was allegedly caught with meth, according to George County Sheriff Dean Howell.
Howell said, 20-year-old David K. Cameron of Lucedale was stopped by a deputy after speeding down Dickerson Sawmill Road in a silver BMW.
When the deputy approached Cameron he reportedly appeared nervous and excited. Howell said Cameron repeatedly asked the deputy to let him go.
After consent was given to search Cameron’s vehicle, Deputy Ray searched the car. However, Cameron retracted his consent once Deputy Ray opened the passenger door.
That’s when Cameron tried to get behind the steering wheel and leave. He was then ordered to exit the vehicle and was placed in hand cuffs as a safety precaution, Howell said.
A deputy and K9 were called to the scene and authorities found several syringes, several clear bags with what appeared to be a white crystalline substance and another with what appeared to be “ice.” Deputies also found a small amount of cash along with digital scales.
